Juan Santiago Grants Advisor

Juan Santiago is a Zapotec-indigenous immigrant and lives in Madera, California. Juan has a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the immigrant communities on both sides of the US/Mexico borders and the importance of empowering these communities through economic development initiatives. Juan was a volunteer for Radio Bilingue and hosted a program called “La Hora Mixteca” on Radio Bilingue, providing a means of communication for indigenous migrant farm workers to communicate with their family and friends in their native indigenous languages. Additionally, he reported on various issues affecting the Central Valley, such as environment, health, and access to clean drinking water. Currently, Juan works as a loan officer at Feed the Hunger Fund, where he assists food entrepreneurs in under-served and low-resourced rural communities.
