Shavaun Evans

Communications and Outreach Director

Shavaun joined the Fund in 2020 as the Communications and Outreach Director. She sets and advances the Fund’s communications goals, supports the Fund’s grantee and funder engagement and resource-offerings, and works to expand the Fund’s overall reach.

Shavaun has more than a decade of experience in food systems, cooperative economics, and communications strategy. Prior to the Fund, she was Interim Co-Director and Membership Director of the New Economy Coalition where she worked with the coalition’s 210 member organizations to build the scale and power of the new economy — a vision for the future where people control their economies through a culture of mutual aid, cooperative and public ownership, and radical democracy. Shavaun also formerly co-led the grassroots advocacy efforts of the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition. At NSAC she worked with farmers and advocates to create and amplify grassroots campaigns that helped secure federal legislative wins for sustainable farmers. Shavaun lives in her hometown of Louisville, KY, where she leads the funding strategy for a Black-led childcare and family collective, Play Cousins Collective.
