Shavaun Evans Director of Programs and Movement Support

Shavaun joined FFCF in 2020 and brings more than a decade of experience in food systems, cooperative economics, and communications strategy to her role. She manages FFCF's participatory decision-making process and works with movement trainers to provide communications trainings and technical assistance to FFCF partners.

Prior to FFCF, Shavaun was Interim Co-Director and Membership Director of the New Economy Coalition, where she worked with the coalition's 210 member organizations to build the scale and power of the new economy -- a vision for the future where people control their economies through a culture of mutual aid, cooperative and public ownership, and radical democracy. Shavaun also formerly co-led the grassroots advocacy efforts of the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition. At NSAC she worked with farmers and advocates to create and amplify grassroots campaigns that helped secure federal legislative wins for sustainable farmers. Shavaun is a recent Equity in Philanthropy fellow of the Rockwood Leadership Institute. She lives in her hometown of Louisville, KY, where she has supported the development of Black-led collectives and community-led organizations that help meet the needs of her community.
